You put in extra time at work, and now that you’re finally at home, all you want to do is relax on the couch. The last thing you want to do is cook. On your smartphone, fortunately, you can quickly order food. The delivery person with your food will be at your door in around 30 minutes. How perfect! Services offered on demand are expanding. What is their origin? In ten years, how will our lives be different?
A generation born between 1980 and 2000, also known as Gen Y, may be one. If so, everything might sound familiar. Unlike their parents, millennials don’t want to work long hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day and make a lot of money. They find that having fun, hanging out with loved ones, and travelling make them the happiest. They must have sufficient time for it. As a result, Generation Y either works less or more efficiently. The latter is likely accurate because they were raised in a technologically advanced environment. A portion of the physical labour may be replaced by automation processes, freeing up more time for millennials to pursue their personal interests. They seek employment that is valuable, adding value for the workforce, the process, or the business. Millennials desire to make a difference in the world.
A person’s value was in his possessions during the period when millennials were growing up.
Brand-name clothing, a BMW in the driveway, and a large house. If you have those things, you have succeeded. But gradually, we are less concerned with “things.” That’s because more and more individuals are realising that in order to produce these items, valuable raw materials that aren’t readily available must be used. Additionally, the employees in the factories in underdeveloped nations who produce these “things” are not
compensated. That doesn’t match the model for a better world that most Millennials aspire to. As a result, people choose their purchases with greater thought. Vintage and used goods shops are more popular than ever. To ensure greater durability of new products, quality comes first. On the other hand, due to the longer working hours, free time has grown in value. For millennials, time spent with friends, family, and interests is more important than material goods.
You only buy what you genuinely need. A car? Why, when you can get a ride anywhere with Uber at the touch of a button? You don’t have to pay for fuel, taxes, car insurance, maintenance, or car washes. That results in significant financial savings. A washer and a dryer? Why would you do laundry when Spinning Top Laundry can do it all for you with the same time commitment as ordering a pizza? You can do without expensive purchases and possessions if you use on-demand services.
Pollution and waste management.
 Financial management
Utilizing outsourcing for meals, chores, and more.
You can see why on-demand services are expanding if you consider what millennials value most. Don’t you think?
Washing machines and cars are still common. It conveys a sense of comfort. “I can travel or wash my clothing whenever I choose.” But, of course, on-demand services also make this possible. Without their flexibility and excellent customer service, these services would not exist.
In ten years, would parking lots be considerably more depopulated? Will there be no more home washers and dryers in the future? What does this picture mean to you? What impact do you think the on-demand sector will have on the way we live today?
