Household chores are frequently given priority to other, more crucial responsibilities when you’re busy. You tell yourself, “I’ll attend to that tomorrow.” You probably won’t be able to do it tomorrow either. You quickly realise that a week has passed and you haven’t finished any of your household chores. Your floors appear dirty, and the mound of laundry you now have is encircled by clouds. You might certainly benefit from some advice on how to do your laundry more effectively. We’ve got you covered, though. Here are 10 tips to help you manage laundry!
1. Create a laundry bag/basket system
It’s best to get a few laundry baskets/bags so you can sort your dirty laundry. Whites, darks, and colours each have their own compartment. This technique allows you to sort by colour. You may also sort by clothing category. Put clothes in each basket/bag, such as pants, sweaters, and socks. Your clean clothing will already be arranged and prepared for folding and packaging after you’re done washing and drying them.
You live alone, right? Then, skipping sorting altogether is more effective. You most likely won’t be able to fit all of your clothing into each basket or load. Simply wash everything at once! To avoid future color leaking, wash new clothing (particularly dark colors) separately the first time.
2. Apply the golden laundry rule
Do you have to search the bedrooms on your hands and knees for socks and pick up shirts before every wash? Give your partner (or wife!) and each child their own laundry basket/bag as well. The golden laundry rule is to wash only the items that are in the baskets/bags.
3.Clean your washing machine regularly.
Regular cleaning of the washing machine is also necessary. This improves the longevity of the appliance and ensures consistently clean wash loads. Cleaning your washing machine with vinegar is a great idea. Instructions on how to do that are available here.
4. A dryer in the towel
You need to wear a pair of pants right now, but you put them off washing for too long. But you are compelled to wait for the drying cycle to complete. Sounds recognisable? To the drying load, add a soft, dry towel. Your clothing will dry considerably more quickly!
5. Use your dryer as Iron
Do you hate ironing? Stupid question. Of course you do. Put your clothes in the dryer for ten minutes, then remove them and hang the warm, damp pants or t-shirts to dry naturally. You won’t have to iron them any longer! Sadly, this technique does not work with button-down shirts (cue the sad violin).
6. Hang directly after Iron
After the cycle is complete, remove the wet laundry from the washer. Your load may begin to smell if you leave wet clothing in the drum, giving bacteria the chance to flourish. To avoid wrinkles, you should fold your clothes as soon as they come out of the dryer. Your iron won’t be used as frequently, you’ll notice.
7. Add socks to a smaller laundry bag
After your wash cycle is complete, you realise that fewer socks than you put in have come out. Most people have at least once dealt with the sock mystery. That second sock is nowhere to be found! They occasionally hide in bed linens or pant legs. Sometimes your washing machine eats them (lol., just joking). Washing them in a little mesh washing bag, like the one below, is the answer.
8. Make a list of “Dryer proof”items.
You can save a lot of time and effort by letting your significant other or older children take care of the laundry. Simply put, you’re not at home all
the time. You may accomplish this worry-free by leaving the washing machine instructions and a list of dryer-safe clothing on the washer and dryer, respectively. All other items must be hung up to dry naturally.
9. Use Spinning Top Laundry Pick up and Delivery Services
Leave the dry cleaning, laundry, and ironing to the professionals. You may be assured that your clothing is being properly cared for in this way. You can choose your preferred pick-up and delivery timings when placing an order online. Your belongings are picked up at home by Spinning Top Laundry, who then delivers them back to you on or before 72 hours.
10. Consistency
Being consistent is the most crucial advice for a more effective laundry routine. If you constantly allow your laundry basket/bag to overflow, you’ll constantly feel like you need to move a mountain before you can move your mountain of clothing (to the washing machine). Simply put, you don’t know where to begin. Establishing a regular washing day each week is beneficial. Although it may seem outdated, it gives your home more structure. Spinning Top Laundry can assist you in setting this up right away! You can select to have your dirty laundry picked up and delivered every week, every other week, or once a month on regular days. Whatever suits you the most.
